Back to product overview

Optima Leaf-Mn is a liquid foliar-fertiliser based on manganese that has been 100% complexed with hepta gluconic acid (HGA). Manganese deficiency is often common at high pH levels in the soil. Treating the soil with manganese is not effective in this case. There is often sufficient manganese, but its uptake is impossible. In this case, the only effective treatment is foliar treatment. Manganese is an important trace element that is essential for the formation of chloroplasts.

Optima Leaf Range

Optima Leaf-Mn is part of the Optima Leaf range, a line of foliar fertilisers that are efficiently absorbed by the plant.

Functions of manganese

  • As a catalyst, ensures that all kinds of plant processes proceed faster and better.
  • Necessary for chlorophyll production and therefore important for photosynthesis.
  • Important for conversion of nitrate into protein.
  • Required for optimal seed formation in all crops.
  • Strengthens the waxy layer, which increases crop resistance to drought and heat.

Possible causes of manganese deficiency in the plant

  • High soil pH.
  • Low manganese levels in the soil.
  • High calcium, copper and iron levels can inhibit the uptake of manganese.
  • Soils that have been frequently tilled/worked. (open structure)

Advantages

  • Delivers manganese in an organically complexed form.
  • Ensures efficient uptake and translocation of manganese.
  • Product approved for organic agriculture and horticulture in compliance with regulations EC 834/2007 & 889/2008.

Application rates

Foliar application (maximum concentration 1:200, unless stated otherwise)

Standard dosage:
1.0 litre per hectare.
Repeat if necessary.

Arable crops:
1.0 litre per hectare.
Apply at least 2 applications per season. Repeat if necessary.

Tree nursery:
1.0 litre per hectare.
Container crops: 300 ml per 100 litres water. Repeat every 2 weeks.

Fruit growing:
1.0 litre per hectare.
Repeat if necessary.

Fertigation application
Standard dosage:
2.0 litres per hectare.
Repeat if necessary.

The maximum concentration for the products from the Optima Leaf range is 1 litre of product per 200 litres of spray liquid (e.g.: dissolve 1 litre Optima Leaf-Mn + 1 litre Optima Leaf-Trace in at least 400 litres of spray liquid).

Attn.: Do not exceed the total maximum dosage of 2 litres/hectare of Optima Leaf products.

Instructions for use
  • Shake or stir well before use.
  • Store frost free, indoors in a dark place.
  • The product may crystallise at too cold temperatures (< 5 oC).
  • For the best results, apply Optima Leaf-Mn in the early morning or late afternoon evening, to avoid strong sunlight. This minimises the risk of crop damage due to leaf burn. If the crop stays wet for longer, the nutrient uptake is improved.
  • Optima Leaf-Mn is generally compatible with other products. However, with a pH more acidic than 4, manganese can react with phosphate fertilisers.
  • Never mix pure products together.
  • We recommend carrying out a trial application on a small area first, before
  • applying to the entire plot.
  • This product has a shelf life of 3 years from the moment of production. The shelf life of the product is stated on the label. Opening the packaging in the meantime has no influence on this. As long as the guidelines for storage are followed the expiry date (BB) on the label is leading.
